Charism
Everything you do to strengthen your school’s charism is best built on the strong foundation of St Dominic’s story. Through learning about Dominic, his vocation, his followers and his unique life and spirituality you will be able to recognise how this can be expressed in your Dominican charism that was first shared in your school by the founding Dominican Sisters. Learn more about the why, what and how of your Dominican Charism.
Crest
The use of personal emblems dates from very early times. Amongst Religious Orders, however, emblems and coats-of-arms first became important in the 15th Century – two centuries after the foundation of the Dominican Order. Learn more about the Dominican crest and its symbolism.
Mottos
At the Heart of the Dominican Charism are three key Mottos. A motto expresses a key value or belief, a principle or purpose to live by. Some people have personal mottos or family mottos that help to shape who they are and what they do. Learn more about the 3 Dominican mottos.
Pillars
The pillars uphold a balanced lifestyle that helps the Dominican family to serve God well. God gave Dominic’s charism to the Church, and generations of the Dominican family have continued to live it and pass it on to people like us.
